GNFC - Failure of Air Compressor of Ammonia Plant
Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company Ltd (GNFC) has informed BSE that on July 03, 2008, the Ammonia Plant operations of the Company were disrupted due to technical problems of Air Compressor of Ammonia Plant and as a result normal operating conditions could not be sustained. To take remedial actions, the Ammonia Plant was shutdown resulting into shutdown of the downstream plants viz. Urea, Methyl Formate, Formic Acid, Acetic Acid, Ammonium Nitrophosphate (ANP) and Toluene Di-Isocynate (TDI) Plants.The Weak Nitric Acid (WNA), Concentrated Nitric Acid - I and II, Methanol I and III, Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN), AN Melt, Aniline, Utility and Power Generation Plants; however, continue to operate. Methanol II (Synthesis Reactor) Plant is under shutdown for revamps. The Air Compressor start-up and stabilization of all other related plants are likely to take around 8 to 10 days. There has been no incident of human injury.
