Advertising Money & Banking - Customer Relationship Management Columns - Third Umpire Corporation Bank writes in
We refer to the article titled Advertising? Don't bank on it! which appeared in Brand Line dated 7th December 2006. In this connection, we wish to clarify as under: In the course of the article, the author has referred to issuance of debit cards by the bank. We would like to mention the fact that in the last two years the bank has issued three debit cards in the Savings bank accounts held by him within ten days of the application. This is contrary to what he has mentioned in the article. The author had approached one of our branches in Bangalore for a housing loan but as the quantum of loan did not meet the credit norms of the bank, the same was conveyed to him promptly, maintaining a high service standard. The point in issue was a credit attribute rather than a service attribute. Incidentally, the author didn't mention the positive aspects of the services rendered by the bank in his article for reasons best known to him. A. Mohan Rao, General Manager (Corporate Communication), Corporation Bank, Mangalore R. Sridhar replies: Whilst the Bank has claimed that they have given me three debit cards within 10 days there was an inordinate delay in issuing me a debit card in one of my accounts (I have several), which is what I referred to in my article. As far as the loan is concerned, the point that I made is that ICICI Bank had given me a loan. Nothing had changed with reference to my creditworthiness. If a private sector bank can give a loan to a non- customer, why should Corporation Bank miss the opportunity?
