One idea every week

Retail Store Leadership
Graham R. Little

Every week, for every department in your store, be sure to do three things, says Graham R. Little in Retail Store Leadership (Westland). “One, provide information on sales for last week against last week’s target. Two,be sure that the sales targets for this week are clearly identified and understood. Three, ask: What will be done this week to improve this department?”

Every week, come up with one idea for improving the performance of every department, advises Little. Large or small, the key is to have a new idea in every department every week, the author urges. If your retail store is small, and there is no one in charge of a particular department, then you may have to generate the ideas yourself and gain the assistance of your staff in implementing those ideas, he cheers.

Slim book, but a potent one.
