MV Hospital for Diabetes and Diabetes Research Centre, Royapuram, Chennai, Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai, and Novo Nordisk Education Foundation have launched Diastep, footwear uniquely designed for diabetics with risk of foot ulcers. So me of its features include a PU sole with extra depth for more pressure distribution and special tread for better grip and traction. Constant use of this footwear is claimed to ward off foot ulcers and infection. Now available for an introductory price of Rs 1,350 at the hospital’s branches in Royapuram and Mylapore in Chennai and Koramangala in Bangalore, it will be available at other places soon.
