Accountants need to evolve as business leaders and should not remain as mere number crunchers, according to Md. Sajid Khan, Head, International Development, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Speaking to newspersons here on Friday, Khan said as per a report by FICCI and Assocham, approximately 37 per cent of the Indian workforce needs to be trained with different skill sets. There was a need to bridge skill gaps in accountancy too.
ACCA was trying to ensure "a deeper, more rounded approach’’ to accountancy by its globally accepted courses and modules, he said.
ACCA is the global body for professional accountants, offering business-relevant, first-choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management.
It supports its 198,000 members and 486,000 students in 180 countries, helping them to develop successful careers in accounting and business, with the skills required by employers.
