With the upward revision in prices of imported LNG, Adani Gas Ltd (AGL) has increased the CNG retail prices in Ahmedabad and Vadodara with effect from Friday (April 19).
The CNG retail price has been revised from Rs 60.15/kg to Rs 63.80 / kg, a company statement said here.
The price for domestic users of piped natural gas (PNG) will also be increased from Rs 31 per cubic metre to Rs 34 per cubic metre with effect from May 1, 2013.
The Gujarat High Court had, on July 25, 2012, directed the Central Government to provide the domestic Administered Price Mechanism (APM) gas to Ahmedabad. However, this has been challenged by the Union Government in the Supreme Court where the matter is sub-judice.
Adani Gas has had to depend on expensive R-LNG supplies from PetronetLNG Ltd, which imports gas, to fulfil the growing demand by the CNG users.
Adani Gas currently supplies gas to over 1.81 lakh domestic, 700 industrial and 1,250 commercial customers in Ahmedabad. It also supplies CNG to two lakh vehicles through 55 CNG stations in Ahmedabad and Vadodara, the official said.
