Alstom India Ltd more than tripled its net profit for the second quarter of fiscal 2014-15 to ₹86 crore as it managed to significantly bring down its raw material costs. The company’s net profit in the same quarter last year was 27.84 crore. During the quarter, the company had posted net revenue of ₹454.61 crore, which was 24 per cent lower than ₹592.16 crore in the same quarter last year. The improved profit was due to bringing down raw material cost by 43 per cent to ₹182.36 crore from ₹320.06 crore in the same quarter last year. On Friday, Alstom’s shares closed 7.57 per cent higher on the BSE at ₹ 529.90.
