Ambuja Cement has launched its first fully automatic one million tonne capacity terminal in Mangalore.
According to Ajay Kapur, Deputy Managing Director and CEO, through this new facility all States along the west coast are now covered by Ambuja Bulk Cement Terminals (BCTs).
“The new terminal at Mangalore will provide Ambuja an opportunity to receive imported cement and also help in reducing the negative effect of seasonality of the Gujarat plant,” he added. In addition, the terminal will also reduce the logistic cost by having common vessel for Mangalore and Cochin BCT.
Kapur said: “While our network of ports, bulk cement terminals and captive ships on the west coast has supported a strong market position in Mumbai, Surat and Cochin, the Mangalore Bulk Cement Terminal will enhance footprints in the southern region.”
