The largest single location solar power plant in the country with a capacity of 40 MW has been commissioned by the Adani Group in Kutch district, Gujarat.
This marks Adani’s first major foray into renewable energy sector and it plans to expand the capacity of this plant to 100 MW, the company said in its filing with the stock exchanges today. The plant uses Solar PV technology.
Adani Power, a company of Adani group, currently operates 3,300 MW at Mundra with four units of 330 MW and three units of 660 MW. It is in the process of commissioning two more units of 660 MW by March 2012 to achieve full capacity of 4,620 MW, making Mundra as the single largest thermal power plant.
Within this financial year, Adani Power also plans to commission 1,320 MW at Tiroda taking its operational capacity to 6,000 MW by March 2012 which would be enhanced to 10,000 MW generation capacity by March 2013.
