The Union Petroleum Secretary has advised Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) to commission phase-III project at the earliest.

A company release said here on Friday that Mr G.C. Chaturvedi, Secretary of the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, visited the phase-III project site of MRPL on Thursday. During his visit, he advised MRPL to commission all the units of phase-III project in a phased manner at the earliest.

He also highlighted the challenges faced by standalone refineries like MRPL. It said that Mr Chaturvedi appreciated MRPL for the efforts being taken in executing the phase-III project.

The MRPL Chairman, Mr Sudhir Vasudeva, and the Managing Director of the company, Mr P.P. Upadhya, accompanied Mr Chaturvedi during his visit to MRPL, it added.
