Court stays Videocon from selling ‘Pebble’ washing machine

The Bombay High Court has passed an interim injunction restraining Videocon from selling their washing machine marketed under the brand name ‘Pebble.’ The machine is said to be an imitation of Whirlpool’s ACE washing machine.

Whirlpool had launched its Ace Washer in September 2010 and Videocon launched its Pebble semi-automatic machine in June 2012 with a similar design of semi-circular wash area and square spin area at a comparatively lower price. The court has ordered Videocon to recall its washing machines.
