Tata Motors has announced its entry into Indonesia, the largest automobile market in the Asean region. The company has set up a wholly owned Jakarta-based subsidiary, PT Tata Motors Indonesia, and is to foray into both passenger and commercial vehicles. Significant investments are also being planned for component localisation. The Indian auto multinational is set to launch its products next year, for which extensive preparations are currently on. Speaking in Jakarta, Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director (Commercial Vehicles), Tata Motors, said: “Our portfolio is globally benchmarked. Based on customer feedback, we will progressively introduce relevant passenger and commercial vehicles, backed by appropriate distribution and service infrastructure such that we are closest to our customers.”
