State-run telecom company BSNL has called applications for filling up 162 vacancies at the Deputy General Manager level.
“BSNL will recruit 106 DGMs in BSNL Telecom Operations and 56 DGMs in Telecom Finance through an online written test,” BSNL Chairman and Managing Director R. K. Upadhyay told PTI.
BSNL is recruiting though a written test on an all-India basis on January 20 next year which will be followed by personal interviews, according to the BSNL Web site. The last date to apply is October 17, 2012.
Upadhyay said vacancies are to be filled up after a period of around two years and that the company will continue to recruit more next year also.
“We have vacancies for the post of management trainees but there are some cases that are sub-judice related to hiring.
The decision to hire management trainees will be taken based on the outcome of the sub-judice matters,” Upadhyay said.
BSNL has around three lakh employees at present and the Sam Pitroda Committee on BSNL restructuring has recommended reducing the workforce by 1 lakh to cut expenses.
The company has submitted a VRS proposal to Government which is yet to be cleared.

correct.. bsnl has 3.5 lacs ppl.. why can not ppl promoted from inside? or it is classic case of indian crabs ? it is really strange that UPSC selected ppl want to leave but management and govt is not able to do it. Inside ppl want to get promotion... management not able to do it??
Absolutely correct, the existing engineers in executive cadres in BSNL with ample experience in the telecom field are more suitable for the DGM posts in BSNL than the fresh recruits from the open market. This will improve the BSNL services better and give morale booster to the BSNL executives as well. In case of the working BSNL executive engineers the eligibility condition may be relaxed as is done always in the other departments for the experienced staff.

why not think to select suitable officers from capable retired executives after taking proper medical fittness for the post. It should be also applied at SSA level for below DGM rank posts in the interest of public to give better services relating to all types of BSNL servies .t may be additional PRO post to look after time to time complaints of any service and its speedy disposal for the interest of a customer.
