Atlas Copco has opened its new manufacturing unit at Cherlapally in Hyderabad.

A leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions, Atlas Copco has invested Rs 80 crore in doubling the capacity of the existing plant located in Cherlapally industrial area near here.

The new facility includes a world-class R&D test centre for the company’s rock drilling products, enabling Atlas Copco to help its Indian customers increase their productivity. Expansion of the plant, which already employs over 200 people, will generate employment for about 35 additional people.

In the coming months, the Hyderabad plant is scheduled to introduce new products such as rotary products for oil and gas applications, drilling consumables for surface mining applications and for innovative deep hole drilling machines to cater to Indian and African markets.

Helena Hedblom, Business Area President, Mining and Rock Excavation Technique, Atlas Copco, said, “India is one of the very important markets for Atlas Copco and this new factory will help us strengthen our customer delivery process, enhancing our customers’ productivity. It will also ensure development of competitive products at a faster pace. This is also in line with our continued focus on the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.”

As part of its strong focus on India, Atlas Copco, in 2013, had invested Rs 100 crore on its new compressor plant at Chakan, Pune.
