Automobile components maker Faurecia Interior Systems India will double its investments at its Chennai factory.

The factory, which started production in May with an investment of Rs 30 crore (€3.7 million) and generated over 180 jobs, is set to double its capacity and create 100 more jobs by mid-2015, Vidyadhar Limaye, Director, Faurecia Interior, told reporters here.

The company is a part of the French multinational, Faurecia SA, which also makes emission controls and automotive seating and has a global business of about €17 billion and a workforce of 94,000.

The Chennai factory, adjacent to Ford India’s car plant at Maraimalai Nagar, makes instrument panels, door panels and central console for Ford’s Ecosport SUVs.

Expansion plans

As of now, Faurecia Interior makes about 300 car sets daily.

The company is also planning to expand its client base and is in talks with other carmakers, Limaye said.
