Power generation equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has made its maiden entry in the Turkish Power Market by getting 16.96 million euro contract.

The company has bagged a contract for rehabilitation of 3 units of Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs) for the 430 MW Tuncbilek Thermal Power Project in Turkey on EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) basis. The order envisages dismantling, supply, civil works and erection & commissioning of the Electrostatic Precipitators.

The order has been placed on BHEL by Electricity Generation Company which is the largest electric power company in Turkey. EUAS is owned by the Turkish government and it generates and supplies electricity throughout the country. Turkey has embarked on a renovation and modernization (R&M) programme of its old thermal power projects and the present contract is aimed at reducing the emission levels drastically.

For this prestigious contract, the Electrostatic Precipitators will be manufactured and supplied by BHEL’s Ranipet unit, Motors and other auxiliaries by its Bhopal facility and Controls by the company’s Bangalore unit. The company’s globalisation strategies are yielding rich dividends and today it has references in over seventy six countries in six continents. Its global reference include the entire gamut of products and systems such as Power plants (Thermal, Gas and Hydro), Turbines, Generators, Sub-stations, Transformers, Motors, Photo Voltaic modules, Oil Field equipment and Transportation equipment, etc.
