Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has commissioned the first unit of the 4x30 MW Pulichintala hydroelectric project in Telangana.

The project is being set up by TS Genco on river Krishna.

BHEL has undertaken the project work which includes design, manufacture, supply erection of four sets of 30 MW vertical Kaplan turbine and generator along with associated auxiliaries.

The equipment has been manufactured at BHEL's plants at Bhopal, Jhanshi, Rudrapur and Bengaluru.

The power equipment major BHEL has in the past set up several hydel projects in the State, which include a 500-MW Nagarjunasagar project and the 300-MW Srisailam power project. It is also working on a number of lift irrigation projects in the State.

BHEL has secured orders for more than 500 hydroelectric generating sets of various ratings over the years with a cumulative capacity of over 29,000 MW.
