Capital goods major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), has bagged a ₹3,536-crore project in Gujarat. It will be an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) project to set up a supercritical thermal power unit for Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL). This is the country’s first ever EPC contract for an 800 MW rating supercritical power project. The order is for a 1x800 MW coal-fired supercritical thermal unit at Wanakbori, in Gujarat’s Kheda district. With this project, BHEL has won orders for installation of 33 supercritical boilers and 28 turbines.
