Consumer goods major Bonita India has slapped a legal notice on Milton over alleged infringement of intellectual property rights (IPR). Bonita has complained that Milton is selling its own product ‘Microwow’ as the world’s first microwave-proof stainless steel product when Bonita’s ‘Microwonder’ already has IPR over this kind of an item.

In the legal notice, Bonita has charged Milton of trying to mislead buyers that Milton is the innovator of the microwave-safe stainless steel concept, even though the original innovation was done by Bonita, which had filed patents for this technology two years ago.

It has also made an additional charge over Milton for using the name ‘Microwow’ that rhythms with Bonita’s ‘Microwonder’ that has started to make a name for itself in the Indian market.

Bonita has been selling ‘Microwonder’ in 25 countries for the past one year and has been a result of two years of in-house research and development and that the company has the relevant intellectual property rights in India and overseas for this product.
