Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions (RBEI) today inaugurated the ‘PSG Tech – Robert Bosch Automotive Electronics Laboratory’ at the PSG College of Technology here.

RBEI’s total investment in establishing this laboratory is estimated at over ₹12 lakh. The company has committed to invest the sum in two phases.

The lab, according to RBEI sources, would give 300 students from across departments live exposure to automotive embedded software development.

Among other equipment, the lab would have a Freescale microcontroller — a kit with advanced features for automotive embedded software development, said V Sri Krishnan, Vice-President, Engineering, at RBEI.

Stating that the investment from Bosch would not be for laboratory infrastructure alone, he said “our technology experts would be mentoring and guiding the students. We are keen to strengthen industry’s connect with academia. We are already engaged in shaping the curriculum. The lab would give students an opportunity to work on current and futuristic technologies.”

“This partnership is aimed at boosting the employability of engineering students and is a significant extension of Bosch’s efforts in aiding the growth and development of Coimbatore,” T K Sathyanarayana, Vice-President, (Human Resources), RBEI, said.

He further said this would offer young students an opportunity to work with the best of technologies and top brands such as Bosch

With automotive electronics emerging as the most important field of contemporary research among global automotive OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), the proposed lab would help students compete with confidence in the global marketplace, the Principal of PSG College of Technology R Rudramoorthy, said.
