CDK Global, Inc, the Nasdaq-listed technology company offering digital marketing and advertising solutions to the automotive retail industry, today outlined its plans to further strengthen its Indian operations located in Pune and Hyderabad.

“The India technology development centres, which currently host about 1,250 people of the 8,700 associates globally, will see the addition of about 200 people during the current fiscal. Both the centres together will entail operational expenditure of about $35 million during the year," Brian MacDonald, Chief Executive Officer of CDK Global, the $2.5-billion in revenue company, said.

Interacting with journalists at the company's development centre here, the CEO said, “The India development centres have been playing a critical role in the overall product development and we continue to invest in these centres to further strengthen the development teams and consolidate business.”

“Over the years, we have emerged as one of the top technology solutions providers for automotive dealers and original equipment manufacturers in the automotive sector, facilitating sales, after sales service and other customer relations relating to automotive sector. While we are a major player in the US, we are trying to figure out how we can tap into the Indian market, which is amongst the growing markets for automotive sector,” he said.

“Our engagement with the large automotive dealer networks and their customers has shown that there is growing importance to online marketing. Typically, a potential car buyer engages with research and paper work for about 16 hours before finalising a purchase of the car. This only shows the importance dealers and automotive companies attach to digital marketing,” MacDonald said.

“While the US is the largest market, we have presence in China, Japan and Singapore and expect to play a role n India too as opportunity opens up,” he said.

The focus of the company's products and software as a service model is to ensure experience enhancement for customers aimed at improving the out-of-store car ownership through to service.

Of the 200-odd people that the company plans to add, 120 are likely to be Hyderabad and 80 in Pune, Reddy Mallladi, Managing Director, CDK Global (India), said.
