Ceat Tyres, the flagship company of RPG Enterprises, has resumed production at its manufacturing plant in suburban Bhandup, Mumbai, which was temporarily shut down following a fire.
There was no loss of life due to the fire, which broke out on Sunday. One person got superficial burns, who is being treated, and he will be able resume work in a week’s time, the company said in a statement.
The Bhandup facility manufactures farm, truck and off-the-road (farm equipment) tyres and contributes about 30 per cent of the company’s total capacity.
“We are trying to find out the cause of the fire and will take corrective action so that such an incident doesn’t reoccur. We stringently adhere to all safety measures and standards prescribed at all our manufacturing facilities and are always striving towards creating a better and safe work environment for our employees,” Anant Goenka, Managing Director at Ceat said.
