Citymax Hotels (India) Pvt Ltd, hospitality division of the Dubai-based Landmark Group, plans to bring in more international premium food brands to India.

Landmark Group, which owns Lifestyle and Max chain of retail stores here, operates casual dining restaurants (Polynation), cafe outlets (Gloria Jean’s Coffees) and entertainment centres (Fun City) in the country through Citymax.

Sunil Chandran, President, Citymax, says the company wants to expand its brand portfolio with international food brands. He was here to launch the company’s first Krispy Kreme doughnuts store in the city. The company currently has 10 Krispy Kreme outlets in Bangalore. Citymax is the master franchisee for the Krispy Kreme brand owned by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Corporation of the US for South and West India. “In the next five years we want to take the total number of outlets to 80 with an investment of ₹ 70-80 crore. We plan to enter Mumbai by the end of the year, besides adding another five stores in Chennai,” said Chandran.

Michael McGill, Vice-President (International), Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation, said the 3,500 sq ft store in Chennai will be the hub-store, where the doughnuts are being manufactured in a transparent confine. The brand is present in 23 countries outside the US.

The company is also exploring various models of Krispy Kreme outlets, including small kiosks. Apart from different varieties of doughnuts, these outlets will serve pastries and hot and cold beverages. “After all, Krispy Kreme is all about sharing a bite, a sip and smile, you see,” says Chandran.
