Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm, the annual rendezvous with the Thar Desert, is set to kick start from Delhi on February 18, 2013. Spread over six days rallying through the interiors of Rajasthan and its deserts, the 11th edition aims to make it an ultimate test of grit and glory for the participants.
The rally will traverse through the tough and undulating, yet some of the most scenic and picturesque areas of Rajasthan. These include Bikaner, Chattargarh, Jaisalmer, Pokharn Gajnaur, Lakshmangarh, etc. Covering a total distance of 2,500 kms, the rally will culminate at Jaipur on February 23.
This year, the rally has five competitive legs. Of this, two are night stages. This tests the participants on their capability in night rallying.
This year the rally will see over 250 motoring enthusiasts participate in four wheeler, two wheeler and motorquad categories. This includes couples, all women team and enthusiastic elderly driver navigator teams.
