Multi-system operator company DEN Networks has appointed Yugal Kishore Sharma as President, Broadband, to spearhead the company’s foray into broadband Internet services. He will be reporting to S.N. Sharma, CEO, DEN. In his last assignment he was working with Tikona Digital Network, a wireless broadband company with 4G licence as its COO.  Sameer Manchanda, Chairman & Managing Director, said: “Following the unprecedented success of digitisation with addressability, the focus for our industry now expands to providing true high speed broadband services and bundled double and triple play offerings to consumers. Mindshare’s new Strategy Head

Media major Mindshare has announced the appointment of John Thangaraj as head of strategy for the Northern region. In his new role, Thangaraj will assume responsibility for the Mindshare strategy product across Delhi. He has over 12 years experience in marketing at Adidas, a research role at Quantum and as head of strategic planning for Redifffusion Y&R. In his last role, Thangaraj was Vice-President, Strategic Planning at Lowe, where he was responsible for the product planning on a cluster of brands.

Sarwade is Jubilant’s marketing head

Jubilant FoodWorks has announced the appointment of Prashant Sarwade as the head of marketing and new product development for the Dunkin’ Donuts India division. He joins Dunkin’ Donuts India after a stint in Cadbury India, Reliance Retail and Britannia Industries. In his previous assignments, he has been involved in key roles in sales and marketing functions. Sarwade has done his engineering from IIT-Delhi and MBA from IIM-Bangalore.

Ex-Rio Tinto chief joins Vedanta

London-listed mining giant Vedanta Resources has appointed Tom Albanese, former Chief Executive of Rio Tinto, as Chairman of its subsidiary Vedanta Resources Holdings Ltd. This marks the return of Albanese into the mining industry eight months after he had stepped down as the Chief Executive of the British-Australian Rio Tinto over a $14-billion write down by the mining giant in January owing to some bad deals. He will not be part of Vedanta’s main firm (the listed entity) but will head Vedanta Resources Holdings, which is in between the main company and its operating subsidiaries, Sesa Sterlite and Konkola Copper Mines.

Sudhakar takes over as ECIL chief

P. Sudhakar has taken over as Chairman & Managing Director of Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL), a Hyderabad-based public sector undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy. He has been with ECIL since 1979 and was holding the Office of the Director (Technical) and acting CMD prior to this appointment. During the past three decades of service with ECIL, he specialised in the areas of design, development, manufacturing, testing and commissioning. He is closely involved with the control and automation systems of all the operating nuclear power plants of the country.
