DESMI, the Denmark-based pumps maker today launched its first production facility in India at Nadergul village,Adibatla on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The facility close to the Aerospace Park has been set up in a four acre plot. The production facility encompasses 3,000 sq m area. It will produce booms that can tackle oil spills in half the area and pumps for industrial purpose in the other half.
The Danish company specialises in the development and manufacture of pump solutions for Marine & Offshore, Industry, oil spill Equipment, Defence & Fuel and Utility Segments. TheNadergul , Telangana facility was inaugurated by Peter Taksoe-Jensen, Danish Ambassador in India, Henrik Sorensen, DESMI Group CEO, JanThaarup, Chairman, DESMI India.
According to AVS Murthy, Managing Director of the India operations, the investment into the facility will be $2-3 million. Initially, the employee strength will be 15 and the markets it will serve will be India and South Asian countries.
DESMI started its Indian operations with a liaison office in 2013 in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Sorensen said "India is a very interesting and promising market for us. We expect the stable political environment with focus on growing the economy, improving infrastructure, and make in India, to mention some, to give us even more business opportunities in future".
The company chose Hyderabad as its pumps find applications in the defence, pharma, oil & gas and large industrial segments.
DESMI, founded in 1834 has manufacturing plants in the US and China. India is the third country where it has set up production units.
