Dhunseri Petrochem & Tea Ltd today said that it has resumed production at its Haldia plant that was shut two months back due to slump in international demand.
The Haldia facility caters 100 per cent to the export market and produces bottle-grade PET resin, for packaging of drinking water, carbonated soft drinks, edible oil and pharmaceuticals.
“With reference to the earlier announcement dated August 14, 2014 and September 15, 2014, regarding shutdown of Plant I of the company at Haldia, Dhunseri Petrochem & Tea Ltd commenced production in the said plant”, the company said in a BSE filing.
The company had earlier suspended work at the plant stating that the sudden increase in import of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) into India has resulted in reduced demand from domestic customers and consequent reduction in supplies from the company in the domestic market.
