Durgapur Steel Plant of SAIL recorded 7 per cent growth in finished steel production in Q1 (April-June) of this fiscal.
Three major finished steel units — section mill, merchant mill and wheel & axle plant — recorded growth of 10 per cent, 14 per cent and 12 per cent, respectively.
“The finishing mills in the plant witnessed excellent growth in the first three months. We have made plans to enhance production substantially in the remaining period of the year,” said P K Sing, CEO of DSP.
The production of special and value-added products represented 76 per cent of the total saleable steel output of DSP.
