DTDC, the express delivery service provider, is focusing on its e-commerce delivery venture Dotzot as more and more people buying things online. The two-year-old subsidiary of DTDC is currently registering deliveries of 15,000 consignments a day.

“We see a lot of potential in the e-commerce delivery market. It is currently registering deliveries of 1.25 lakh deliveries a day. With our strong network in the traditional delivery business, we hope to garner more business,” Abhishek Chakraborty, Executive Director of DTDC, told Business Line.

With the e-commerce base growing significantly, the company expects to cross the 50,000-mark in deliveries in a year. “The e-commerce market is presently put at $4 billion in the country, which is growing at 50-60 per cent year on year,” he said.

In Hyderabad to attend an event to mark the 25th anniversary of the company on Sunday, Abhishek said the company would set up fulfillment centres in major cities to help the e-tailers, small and big, deliver the goods quicker.

“We have two such centres now. We are going to establish 8-10 mid-sized centres in the next one year,” he said.

DTDC runs over 7,000 partner-owned and 500 exclusive delivery hubs in the country. It registered a turnover of Rs 7,000 crore in 2013-14 and expects to cross the Rs 850-crore mark this financial year. It clocks 11.5 million consignment deliveries a month.
