FMCG major Emami Ltd’s Pacharia plant in Assam commenced commercial operations on Thursday.
Built at a cost of ₹300 crore, the plant will cater to most of the company’s offerings in the personal care segment including Ayurvedic and healthcare products and cosmetics.
At a capacity of 90,000 tonnes, the plant is Emami’s largest.
It is the company’s third plant in Assam (after Abhoypur and Amingaon) and eighth nationally.
The other domestic plants are located in Kolkata, Vapi (Gujarat), Dongari (Maharashtra), Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) and Massat (Dadra and Nagar Haveli). It also has a plant at Gazipur in Bangladesh.
Emami produces FMCG products under various brands including Naturally Fair, Himani, BoroPlus, Fair and Handsome, Kesh King and Zandu.
Emami’s share price closed at ₹1,079.35 on the BSE today, up 0.11 per cent.
