Focus on premium brands and conserving margins has helped Empee Distilleries report a small profit, despite a drop in total income for the fourth quarter ended September 30, 2013, compared with a loss in the comparable quarter in the year-ago period.
Empee Distilleries has reported a net profit of Rs 50 lakh (net loss: Rs 85 lakh) on a total income of Rs 127.80 crore (Rs 163.54 crore) for the quarter.
The top line is down because the company is concentrating on premium brands and has conserved the operating margins at about 8 per cent, said a company official.
The company has announced a dividend of Re 1 a share (10 per cent).
