Essar Projects, an EPC company of Essar group, today said it has secured Rs 700 crore contract from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL).

“The order is for Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) and Commissioning/ Commissioning Assistance of the Coke Drum Structure Package (CDSP) of the Delayed Coker Unit at the BPCL Kochi Refinery for the Integrated Refinery Expansion Project,” Essar Projects (EPL) said in a statement.

EPL President & CEO Alwyn Bowden said, “This is the second award from BPCL this year, reinforcing our commitment to our key customers as we continue to deliver value to their operations.”

The scope of work includes project management, residual process design, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and performance testing of the CDSP of the Delayed Coker unit (DCU).

Commenting on the contract, CEO, Hydrocarbon SBU, EPL, Amit Gupta said, “This is the third Coker Unit that Essar Project’s Hydrocarbon SBU would have set up and this contract is the single largest package of the BPCL Kochi Integrated Refinery Expansion Project.”

With the contract, the company said its “current order book now stands in excess of USD 4 billion“.

BPCL — Kochi Refinery is in the process of expanding the refinery facilities from 9.5 million tonne per annum (MTPA) to 15.5 MTPA as part of Integrated Refinery Expansion Project (IREP) for which Engineers India Limited (EIL) has been appointed as Project Management Consultant (PMC) for the project, it said.

The DCU has a capacity of 3.84 MTPA, the company said adding, “The overall project schedule for this project is 27 months, including commissioning.”

Essar Projects, headquartered in Dubai, works as an EPC contractor for industries like Oil and Gas, Power, Ports and Marine, Civil and Building, etc and has presence in over 20 countries.
