FACT Engineering and Design Organisation (FEDO), the engineering consultancy division of the fertiliser company, will be an independent entity from January 1.

FEDO will soon open its offices in Delhi, Mumbai and some Gulf countries to carry out consultancy and turnkey projects, said Jaiveer Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director, FACT.

He told reporters here that FEDO is in the process of modernising its infrastructural facilities and other software and hardware upgradations to meet the challenges of the engineering consultancy being faced internationally.

By turning into an independent unit, the organisation would be having more freedom to make decisions in keeping with market requirements. FEDO was established in 1965.

K.T. Mariamma, Joint General Manager, FEDO, said the organisation had recently completed consultancy services for implementation of crude and product tankages in the Rs 3,000-crore Paradip Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation in Odisha. It has also bagged from IOC to carry out basic and detailed design of the company’s proposed LPG import terminal facility in Kochi.

The market conditions are now favourable for the organisation to enter as an independent unit with its core manpower strength of 60 engineers, she added.

FEDO’s core areas include fertilisers, petrochemicals, refining, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, hydro-metallurgy and organic and inorganic acids.
