“I am happy with the way family-owned companies in Tamil Nadu, especially in Chennai, maintain highest standards in the industrial sector,” said the Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu addressing the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of The KCP Ltd here.

He was conveying the message that KCP was one such organisation that was for 75 years continuously growing, maintaining good relationship with working class and earning a good name.

“Continuously upholding the value system and flourishing in business is not easy. But, KCP has done that over the years for others to emulate,” he added, after acknowledging the contributions of the company to the industry and society.

Earlier, V L Dutt, Chairman & Managing Director, The KCP Ltd, said the journey of the group started in 1941 when V Ramakrishna founded the company by taking over a sick co-operative sugar mill in a town in Vuyyuru in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh.

Today, the company has grown into a diversified industrial group with interests in commodities (cement, sugar, power), capital equipment (heavy engineering) and services (hospitality) with over six factories in India and Vietnam, he said.

Rapid cement launch

VL Indira Dutt, Joint Managing Director of the $200-million company announced that the company would launch its KCP rapid cement next month.

“Rapid will be meant for making pre-fabricated concrete, making pre-cast concrete products and construction of high-rise buildings and roads,” she said.
