GAIL (India) Ltd and the US-based Bloom Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deploy natural gas based fuel cell technology for electricity generation.
The technology is already being used by over 100 companies globally, an official statement said.
Bloom Energy’s Servers convert fuel into electricity and use natural gas as the base fuel. The technology is known as solid oxide fuel cell.
“The Bloom Energy Servers could be installed onsite at any operating premises or building and can be plugged into natural gas pipeline to generate uninterrupted, efficient, noise-less power round-the-clock,” an official statement said.
New proposal Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas, who was also present at the occasion, said that he would soon send a proposal to the Lok Sabha Speaker to do a pilot project in Parliament building where human and other bio-waste would be converted into gas or fuel.
