Wind turbine manufacturers, Gamesa India and ReGen Powertech, have announced new order winnings, which are seen as an indication of an uptrend in the wind industry. Meanwhile, another company, Inox, has announced it has just commissioned a new manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh.

Gamesa, part of the Spanish wind major of the same name, today said it has won an order for 50 MW from Atria Power, a renewable energy producer. The order is for Gamesa’s two 25MW machines, which were recently introduced in India. The Atria Power project is to come up at Kayathar in Tamil Nadu. Gamesa, whose Indian operation is headquartered in Chennai, will also build the wind farm for Atria.

A notable feature of this order is that the machines will stand 104 metres high, so that electricity could be generated even at the low wind site.

Another Chennai-headquartered company, ReGen Powertech, has won a Rs 500-crore (75 MW) order from the Malpani group. ReGen produces machines of 1.5 MW capacity. The Malpani project is coming up in Madhya Pradesh. ReGen said in a press release that it is on the verge of closing orders worth Rs 1,000 crore shortly. This is in addition to orders worth Rs 1,800 crore the company has won from the Hero group, Sembcorp Green Infra, Ghari Detergent, Ruchi Soya, Sancheti Properties and Royal Classic, the release said.

Inox Wind has announced the commissioning of its 800 MW blade facility at its state of the art integrated manufacturing unit at Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh.  The unit will have an annual production capacity of 400 rotor blade sets and eventually also have an annual manufacturing capacity of 400 nacelles and hubs, 300 towers and will double Inox Wind’s production capacity to 1,600 MW.

NSE-listed Inox says the new manufacturing facility will aid efficient transportation of equipment to several wind rich sites in the country.
