Wind turbine manufacturer, Gamesa, has won an order for putting up a 20 MW solar project in Sri Lanka, the company’s first solar job in the island nation.
The plant is to be put up in Barunthankanda village in the Hambantota Province. Under this contract, Gamesa will provide complete turnkey EPC solutions that include engineering & design, supply of Gamesa Electric inverters, erection and commissioning of the 20MW photovoltaic solar plants. The plant will commence operation by October 2016.
Gamesa, headquartered in Spain, is one of world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers. The company has installed over 2,000 MW of wind turbines in India and it also has a presence in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka solar order will be executed by Gamesa India.
Gamesa India entered the solar sector in India in 2015, as a company that builds solar projects for others. Today, Gamesa India has commissioned about 16MW of solar power projects in India and over 60MW is under execution.
