Gayatri Projects Ltd has bagged a ₹1,255-crore highway contract in Odisha through a joint venture with Russian construction company PTPS.

The project entails rehabilitation and upgradation of Angul-Sambalpur section of National Highway 42 (new NH 55) between 112 km and 265 km in Odisha.

The project has been awarded under the National Highway Development Programme IV to be executed under the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) mode.

The Hyderabad-based construction and infrastructure company had earlier this year decided to capitalise on the growing EPC opportunities being adopted in a number of sectors, industries, national highway projects, water distribution and underground mining.

In the past 18 months, the company's order book has more than doubled to over ₹10,000 crore on robust inflow of orders.

All of these orders are being taken up on the EPC mode, the company informed BSE.

The highways developed under the NHDP-IV project have played a role in transformation of highway transport in the country.

The company shares closed at ₹686.70, up 1.65 per cent, on the BSE today.
