State-run Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) net profit for the third quarter ended December 2014 fell by 26 per cent to ₹25.92 crore from ₹35.22 crore of the corresponding period last year. Net sales fell by 10.5 per cent to ₹455.20 crore (₹508.94 crore). The company attributed the drop in profits and revenues to the rise in supplies of imported caustic soda lye. Net sales for the nine months ended December 2014 stood at ₹1,444.21 crore, up 4.37 per cent (₹1,383.68 crore).
