GVK Power & Infrastructure Limited has posted a loss of Rs 209.12 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2014, as against a loss of Rs 45.43 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.

Net sales of the diversified power and infrastructure company was, however, higher at Rs 791.92 crore for the third quarter as against Rs 735.09 crore for the same period last year.

During the first nine months ended December 31, 2014, the company registered total losses of Rs 762.02 crore on a turnover of Rs 2,203.35 crore as against a loss of Rs 132.31 crore and total income of Rs 2,126.52 crore for the corresponding nine months last year.

While the airports and roads business boosted its performance, the power segment dragged down its numbers. The gas-based power plant starved of fuel supplies resulted in a drop in its power business and impacted the overall numbers.

DIRECTORS

The company's board today re-appointed existing independent directors, S. Balasubramanian, Ch G. Krishnamurthy and K. Balarama Reddi for five years from February 13, subject to approval of shareholders at the ensuing annual general meeting.

The company's shares were trading at Rs 9.90, down 3.88 per cent during the day on the BSE.
