Himalaya Drug Company, a leading homegrown wellness company, has announced its foray into the mother care segment, with the introduction of ‘Himalaya for Moms’ for expecting and new mothers.

According to the company, the move will further strengthen its position in the babycare segment, which is growing at 60-70 per cent per annum.

The Himalay for Moms product portfolio includes soothing body butter, toning massage oil, anti-rash cream and nipple care butter.

“The range will cater to specific requirements of pre and post-natal mother care such as dry skin, soreness of nipples and pregnancy rashes,” said Philipe Haydon, Chief Executive Officer of Himalaya Drug Company.

Mother care is presently a niche market space but offers immense opportunity, he said, adding that every minute 26 million children are born in India, leaving nearly that many mothers in need of care and attention.

The decision to enter the mother care space is a natural extension to provide effective personal care solutions to both mothers and babies, the company said. With the launch, Himalaya has become the first wellness brand to introduce products for mothers.

The products will be available at pharmacies and modern trade outlets apart from Amazon.com and Himalaya’s website and app.
