Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) has announced that all three factories in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will start using solar power as the primary source of energy for its manufacturing operations. HCCB owns and operates factories at Ameenpur in Telangana and Vijayawada and Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh.

The company has signed agreements with Vibrant Energy to procure 2.7 crore units of solar power for the three factories. Prior to these agreements, HCCB ran a pilot project for solar power usage for its factory operations by procuring 45 lakh units of solar power from Solar PPA. It will continue with its agreements with Solar PPA too.

About 75 per cent of the power requirements Ameenpur factory and 50 per cent of the requirement for Vijayawada and Srikalahasti factories will be met through solar energy.

Christina Ruggiero, CEO of Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd, and Marvin Tien, Managing Director of Ahana Renewables, the parent company of Vibrant Energy, inaugurated the usage of solar power at the factory premises.

Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd, is one of India’s largest FMCG manufacturing and distribution companies. The company owns and operates 21 factories. It also sources from and supports 11 contract packers’ plants.
