Honda Cars India Ltd unveiled its new crossover utility vehicle Honda BR-V, a 7-seater developed exclusively for the Asia market. The car will be launched in India between April and June this year, a company official said.
Honda Cars also showcased its flagship sedan Accord, which it plans to reintroduce later this year with new luxury features. With the 9th generation Accord, it aims to strengthen its sedan line-up in the Indian market.
Takahiro Hachigo, President, CEO and Representative Officer, Honda Motor Co, said: “India is the largest contributor to the company’s sales from the Asia and Oceania region, making it one of the fastest growing markets for us.”
The Asia and Oceania region accounted for 15 per cent of the company’s global sales in 2015.
The company added that it has invested ₹380 crore to expand the production capacity at its Rajasthan plant, which will raise the total capacity to 3 lakh units by mid-2016.
