The $5-billion Hong Kong-based electronic manufacturer Skyworth plans to acquire an assembly plant in Northern India to expand its presence pan-India. It has an assembly unit in Hyderabad catering to the southern markets, said Jackson Zhang, Managing Director, Skyworth India.

At present, the company’s focus is in South where it sells various ranges of televisions. “Our target is to capture 10 per cent of the market share in two years across India,” he told newspersons on the launch of New AIR TV range, which the company claimed was the slimmest high-tech television.

Priced at ₹1.69 lakh, the 7.9-mm AIR TV, which is thinner than a smartphone, has a 55-inch screen has a 5-in-1 digital video broadcasting technology powered with a personal voice recorder, he said.

Zhang said in the last five years the company has introduced many television products, including LED, CD, 3D and Smart TVs. It plans to introduce 8K, OLED, Smart Plus TVs and home appliances such as air-conditioner, washing machine and refrigerator, he said.
