In a bid to expand and grow the home and personal care (HPC) business, fast-moving consumer goods company Hindustan Unilever Ltd has made strategic changes at the top level.

HPC is the second largest revenue grosser for the company after soaps and detergents, which contribute over 40 per cent towards total sales.

The company has now separated the home and personal care into two different categories in India. For this, the maker of Dove, Lux and Ponds has appointed Samir Singh, currently Vice-President, Personal Care Lead, South Asia Cluster, Unilever, as the Executive Director-Personal Care of HUL.

Priya Nair, currently Vice-President - Laundry, HUL, has been appointed as Executive Director - Home Care. Both the officials would be part of the management committee of HUL, and their appointments are effective October 1.

Hemant Bakshi, now Executive Director - Home and Personal Care, would be appointed as Executive Vice-President of Unilever, Indonesia, subject to Unilever Indonesia's external board approval, said the company.

“We have reorganised the home and personal care business into two separate businesses to ensure focus on the growth drivers for each of these businesses,” said Sanjiv Mehta, CEO, HUL.

While Priya Nair joined HUL in 1995, and has worked in roles across marketing, customer development and CMI, Samir Singh joined HUL in 1997, and has worked in various roles and across the regional and global Unilever organisation.
