Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions Ltd, a subsidiary of Pune-based Kinetic group, has won a Rs 400-crore order from the Uttar Pradesh government for the supply of 27,000 units of electric three wheeler Kinetic Safar.

Launched today, the indigenously designed battery-operated Kinetic Safar has seen ground-up development and comes at a price tag of Rs 1.28 lakh.

Delivery of the e-three wheelers, which is under the e Rickshaw Yojana of UP government, is to be completed within 12 months. While delivery of the first 300 units of Kinetic Safar has been completed, deliveries are planned to be enhanced to 3,000 units per month.

Designed to reduce the carbon footprint with zero emission and sound and provide a cost-effective solution for last mile connectivity as well as shared public transport in cities across India, Kinetic Safar has Automotive Research Association of India's (ARAI) approval.

In line with CMVR guidelines, Safar has a maximum speed of 25 km per hour and can carry four passengers plus driver.

Kinetic Green has tied up with leading and battery manufacturer Exide for lead acid battery system that is backed with warranty, service and recycling network all over the country. Safar will also have an exclusive dealer network, and a service as well as warranty back up.

The Safar is currently being manufactured at Kinetic Green’s facility at Ahmednagar which has a capacity of 4,000 vehicles per month. Seeing the increasing demand for battery operated vehicles, Kinetic Green plans to expand its manufacturing facilities in Ahmednagar and also start another assembly unit in North India.
