KIOCL Ltd (formerly Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd) said the production of iron ore pellets at its Mangaluru plant has crossed 1 million tonnes in the first six months of 2017-18.
In a press release here on Friday, the company said the production of pellet has crossed 1 million tonnes in the first half of 2017-18 with a sale of 1.125 million tonnes of pellet during the period. This is against a sale of 0.16 million tonnes in the first six months of 2016-17.
The company has achieved this milestone after a gap of five years, it said.
Quoting Subba Rao, Chairman and Managing Director (additional charge) of KIOCL Ltd, the release said that there is substantial increase in the production and sale of pellet due to supportive pricing environment, efficiency in production, and swift decision making in exploiting market opportunity in KIOCL.
