The Hydrocarbon Division of engineering and infrastructure major L&T has announced receiving an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) order worth ₹1,700 crore from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). L&T will construct new Crude Transit Line (TL-5) from North Kuwait to Ahmadi. The completion of the project is scheduled in the third quarter of 2020.
L&T is currently executing Gathering Centre-30 (GC-30) project for KOC, a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and fully owned by Kuwait. The ₹5,000-crore contract was won by L&T in 2014 becoming a breakthrough for its hydrocarbon subsidiary as the order was won against competition from European and Korean EPC majors.
L&T’s track record in Kuwait market also includes critical sections of oil refineries at Shuaiba and Mina Abdullah, an aviation fuel depot and supply of 22 reactors that were part of the country’s clean fuel programme.
L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering, a wholly-owned subsidiary of L&T, serves the oil and gas sector in India and abroad. Organised under Offshore, Onshore, Construction Services, Modular Fabrication and Engineering Services verticals, the company delivers “design to build” engineering and construction solutions across the hydrocarbon spectrum.
