Lybrate, an online platform that seeks to connect doctors, patients and labs to facilitate healthcare, is now seeking to broaden its reach into Tier II and III cities and by connecting with insurance firms, pharma companies and medical device suppliers.

Saurabh Arora, Founder and CEO of Lybrate, said that the online platform launched in January 2015 has made rapid strides, apart from securing funding from some marquee investors, including Ratan Tata, it now has managed to bring over 1,00,000 doctors on to the platform in the last 24 months. The platform has been witness to more than 4 million downloads of the app. It has facilitated/resulted in more than seven million interactions a month on the platform.

The start-up has managed to gradually scale up by securing funding of over $ 10.2 million from Tiger Global, Nexus Venture Partners and Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus Tata Sons, apart from $ 1.23 million of seed fund in August 2014.

Describing itself as a Digital Partner for Indian Medical Association, Saurabh Arora told Business Line that it also provides software as a service (SAAS) to doctors, and helps connect patients with doctors and then with labs. Thereafter, it goes on to the next stage, where even tests prescribed by the doctor get executed at home and results uploaded for doctors to facilitate consultation. If all this is done online fine, or they could visit the doctor at a mutually convenient time.

As tech guys associated with Facebook and Snapdeal, Arora and Rahul, founded Lybrate, to address the concerns of information asymmetry and facilitate informed decisions with hassle free interface with the medical community.

While there are a few apps that enable people to connect with doctors and secure their appointments, Lybrate goes a several steps ahead to facilitate interaction, appointment, consultation, tests if necessary and then follow up.

As a communication centric platform, Lybrate, which offers health feed, is now seeking to get into smaller towns engage with insurance, pharma companies and device makers to see how they could work collaboratively.

Lybrate is available on mobile as an app, can be accessed trough desktops.
