To become a global manufacturing hub, India needs to focus on ‘quality’ , especially in the auto components industry, said Osamu Suzuki, Representative Director and Chairman, Suzuki Motor Corporation.
He pitched ‘Quality India’ as a slogan for the growth of the automobile industry.
In his keynote address at the Auto Component Manufacturer Association's annual convention here on Thursday, he said: “We, the manufacturer, will not be able to provide products to our customers if we do not receive support from excellent suppliers.”
He said quality is an important component and as export volumes from India grow, ‘it requires us to win over even more intense competition and it is assumed that from now on, screening of suppliers based on quality will happen.
“I also pray for further development of Indian automobile industry and like to state one more slogan — ‘Quality India’.
“I sincerely hope that under ‘Quality India’, Indian automobile industry will be able to take big step forward,” he said.
He said for manufacturers, suppliers are indispensible business partners.
“Now, we have made equity participation, directly and indirectly, in 19 joint venture suppliers in India, which play an important role in global supply chain of Suzuki group,” Suzuki added.
